Cuisinart DLC018BGTX Large Pusher Sleeve Assembly Reviews

I’ve had a Cuisinart food processor, almost since the brand started to be sold in the United States, which was a lo-o-ong time ago. The Large Pusher Sleeve Assembly used to last as long as the bowl, but not any more. I go through two of these pusher sleeves a year (sometimes 3 if I’m really unlucky). Cuisinart must be making them out of shoddier plastic than was earlier the case. I’m sticking with the Cuisinart brand (I’ve never had a problem with the food processor motor), but I wish the company had retained its original high standards concerning the manufacture of the machine’s plastic bowl assembly.

The little tips that are part of the locking mechanism usually break off first, and I can still get the food processor to work by pushing down on the inner sleeve with my hand, but eventually the whole plastic tab breaks loose, and then I have to replace the whole large pusher sleeve assembly.

You will see cracks develop in the whole sleeve right away, and it also discolors rather easily, but you have to have the sleeve in order to run the machine.

This is the popup mesh hamper I hoped someone would build in white…and they did! It’s the perfect size, large enough for a full laundry load but not so large as to be cumbersome. Easy to handle, the well woven mesh breathes and the spiral “bones” are sturdy, which keep the hamper upright even when holding a full load. When collapsed, it is held in place by two toggle and loop closures that work well. I bought 3 of these hampers and threw away my cheaply made mesh popups that sprung their thin metal in short order and lost their flimsy, ribbon-type handles on the first load I lifted. If you like the idea of sturdy, breathable mesh and popups together, you’ll love these!

Tray is very sleek and attractive. Handles are nice and low so that they do not interfere with dishes placed on tray. The cord is a quite short but that is probably a safety feature. Cuisinart SM-MG Large Meat-Grinder Attachment for Cuisinart Stand Mixer, White Reviews

People shouldn’t give an item two stars just because of pricing compared to Kitchenaid. That’s not helpful to anyone. I pulled the trigger on this attachment when Amazon had it for 7 shipped. Yes it’s a little pricey, but compared to the Kitchenaid grinder for around , here’s what I can see as the differences for $$ spent:

- It looks like the SM-MG tray appears to be a little larger than the

KA. (You can order a larger tray at add’l expense with the KA).

- The sausage making attachments are included with the Cuisi. (Again

these are not included, but can be ordered separately for the KA).

- The whole main body of the SM-MG Cuisi is cast aluminum or some other

metal, (whereas the KA body looks to be mostly plastic, and appears

smaller).

- The SM-MG attachment gives you three sizes of metal grinding wheels,

whereas the KA I believe gives you only two sizes.

- The SM-MG attachment, just like the Cuisi mixer itelf, has a three-

year warranty. (I believe the KA mixer, and I am assuming the

attachments, only have a one-year warranty).

I hope I have helped to compare apples to apples here. I know that I sound like a Cuisinart “fanboy,” but after weighing all of the pros and cons before purchasing a stand mixer for the first time, (and valuing my dollars spent), I went with the Cuisinart, and I have not been disappointed. (Believe me, I really wanted to buy American here, and KA makes a fine product. If they would up their warranty to three years, I wouldn’t hesitate to go with Kitchenaid).

You won’t be grinding meat for any commercial applications with this unit. It is rather slow, but does the job. (Grinding 5 pounds of meat for sausage took awhile – a good while. I used the directions to put the mixer on speed “5″. It was my first time using the attachment, so I didn’t think of maybe cranking it up to “6″ or so. I’ll have to experiment with that. After all, the SM-MG attaches to the “slow” gear outlet).

When I can buy my roast beef for .99 a lb, I buy several so that I can make my own ground beef. I grind very little fat with it and grind it twice per most instructions and my local bitcher. At .99 a lb for store bought ground beef I am .00 ahead of the game and with less fat.

This seems like a great tool for elderly people in the shower. My shower tile has a slight texture to it, so the bar did not hold up for more than a minute. If my 81 year old mother had showered with the bar in place, it could have injured her if it fell off. It is quite heavy. Wish we could have used it but had to return it. A safety hazard for us instead of a helpful tool.

I really like this grill. I found it to be particulary good for searing fish and really like the smoke free feature. I was a little skeptical of the smoke free feature however it really does do a good job of cooking with little-to-no smoke. I really found the griddle to be very useful as I love sauteed mushrooms on burgers and the griddle and grill together are quite conducive for this type of cooking. Having one place to grill and griddle is very handy for eggs and sausage or bacon for breakfast too. For someone who lives in an apartment wihout an outdoor area for barbequeing (like myself) this is a great alternative.
