The bowls are very shallow and with bottoms that are raised in the middle, so they don’t work well as mixing bowls. I suppose the large bowls could be used for tossed salad or something but the two smallest bowls are too small for anything.

As others have noted, they are very thin, but it is really the shape and size that prevents them from being useful.

If I bought some bowls at the local kitchen supply, I would have two bowls that I would actually use instead of five that I won’t.

Note: The set doesn’t match the pictures — they are much shallower.

These are excellent bowls. Solid without being too heavy like some ceramics, the rubber bottom keeps them from sliding around on the counter, they seem pretty much unbreakable and they clean well in the dishwasher. They also nest well for storage. I use these and have given a few sets as gifts, they have alwasy been much appreciated. Good product!

I’ve had glass, ceramic, and stainless steel mixing bowls. These are by far my favorite. No skid. Lightweight yet very substantial. Great finish. Great to mix in, great to throw popcorn in. Worth the price.

I received these bowls as a wedding present and I LOVE them! Even though they do nest nicely for storage, I put up wall pegs for one-handed access while I am cooking. I can’t seem to make anything without using at least two of them. They hold a chill nicely for working with pastry and pie dough Perfect for beating egg whites. They havn’t dented, even when I have knocked them off the pegs onto the counter and I use a variety of hand mixers in them. I wash them in the dishwasher, but find that I will hand wash before mixing in another bowl. Why not 5 stars? They could use something- either a non-skid bottom or a rubber ring- to allow for counter mixing. Sometimes I would like the option for one hand mixing without having to pile up my dish towels. Price is daunting. Went to get a set for a friend, but almost fell over when I saw the price. This is a definite wish list item! However, if the company really stands behind the lifetime replacement gaurantee, they might be worth the dough.

I really wanted to buy these bowls. Handles looked very useful and the quality appeared to be first rate. But the gap between the handle and the bowl is too small for my fingers and I don’t have the thickest fingers in the world. It just made using the bowls difficult, irritating and tiring. I wonder why All-clad designed it this way. I would not recommend the set unless they redesigned the handles.

I’m horribly picky when picking out kitchen products (OCD-like) and I love these mixing bowls. I have a modern kitchen and they fit right in. Picture is exactlly how they look when they arrive. They’re sturdy yet sleek.

I get lazy sometimes and let them sit in water and they get a few waterspots but that’s easily removed by barkeepers friend or perhaps just some soap and water.

I’d highly recommend this product.

I purchased these bowls because I saw the reviews were good. Well, let me tell you what a disappointment they were! First of all they arrived dented-LARGE dent. Very poor packaging, and the box was soaked through. Then when I tried to return them it took me days to finally have someone call me back with an RA#. Otherwise not returnable. And then they charged me a restocking fee. The company and the product was horrible. Save yourself the agony and buy something else.

The second largest bowl developed a 1-2 cm crack along the rim after a week of use. These bowls are paper thin and obviously defective. Unfortunately the item only had three 4-5 star reviews when I ordered them on Amazon. Since then other people have had the same problem.

I have a set of less expensive stainless steel bowls, but I packed them away when I discovered the Amco bowls. I like the idea that I can purchase exactly the size bowls that I need for cooking and baking. This Amco 4-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl is a convenient size. I recommend buying the 5-Quart and 6-Quart sizes too. (Recall that KitchenAid Stand Mixer Bowls are in 4.5-Quart and 5-Quart sizes.) The flat bottoms means that you can place them on a counter (on top of a damp flour sack kitchen towel would prevent any slippage). There are many times you will want to use one of these bowls instead of using your stand mixer. For example, chocolate brownie mixes usually recommend 50 stirs by hand.Highly recommended! These bowls are dishwasher-safe, too.

This is a wonderful item. Before I had this one (and the same one in another size) I only had plastic bowls. This one is so much better on alot of levels.First it is a wonderful, all around great size. Its substantial size makes it great for alot of mixing chores. Its easy to clean and maintain. And great for salads as it holds the temperature and the salads stay cold. My old plastic bowls werent as study and had a tendancy to tip, didnt help with temerature reculation and were harder to clean (tomato would stain it , you couldnt use plastic as a make-shif double boiler, and it was hard to ever be sure any grease was off it, essential for whipping egg whites.this is a great item. They arent bad for storage either as they nest. I wouldnt get any other bowls, at this point…

I should’ve listened to the previous reviewer. I’m not sure how these bowls are normally measured, but even though it claims a 6-quart capacity, in my tests using a liquid measuring cup, this bowl only holds up to 19 cups (4.75 quarts) before spilling over, which of course is an impractical level to fill a bowl. So 4 quarts is probably more accurate, and even then I’d be worried about mixing stuff over the edge depending on what’s in it.

In spite of this, I’ve happily used it to mix dough and fillings, and as part of a makeshift double boiler with a 3qt pot. It’s a sturdy stainless steel mixing bowl with a flat bottom and a brushed metal appearance, nothing special. It doesn’t have a rubber bottom like some brands, but you can always put a rubber mat or damp kitchen towel under it if that bothers you. Just make sure you aren’t actually planning on putting more than a gallon of stuff in it at one time.

Very sturdy bowl at this relative large size of 8 quarts. Good size for seasoning a cut up chicken. I probably buy one larger bowl. That would make this my next to largest bowl.
