The bowls are very shallow and with bottoms that are raised in the middle, so they don’t work well as mixing bowls. I suppose the large bowls could be used for tossed salad or something but the two smallest bowls are too small for anything.

As others have noted, they are very thin, but it is really the shape and size that prevents them from being useful.

If I bought some bowls at the local kitchen supply, I would have two bowls that I would actually use instead of five that I won’t.

Note: The set doesn’t match the pictures — they are much shallower.

These are excellent bowls. Solid without being too heavy like some ceramics, the rubber bottom keeps them from sliding around on the counter, they seem pretty much unbreakable and they clean well in the dishwasher. They also nest well for storage. I use these and have given a few sets as gifts, they have alwasy been much appreciated. Good product!

I’ve had glass, ceramic, and stainless steel mixing bowls. These are by far my favorite. No skid. Lightweight yet very substantial. Great finish. Great to mix in, great to throw popcorn in. Worth the price.

These are my new favorite mixing bowls! The rubber bottom keeps the bowl from scooting around while mixing and stirring items, and the small pour spout is a great feature that I didn’t realize I needed until I the opportunity came up to use it. They’re dishwasher safe too…a big plus!

I bought these almost a year ago and use them on a near daily basis. I have had plastic, glass, and stainless steel bowls and these are my absolute favorite. I don’t think I could ever live without them now. The three sizes are perfect and I love that they withstand the microwave, and my blender without so much as a scratch. The stay put bottom is my favorite feature of all.

These are nice bowls – the pouring lip & non skid bottoms are a real plus. However, I wanted to use these in the microwave, and they are not microwave safe. The description does not say this & you don’t find this out until after you’ve purchased them.

not enough…I was still pouring 1/2 of my product on the

counter top..decided to find another set that actually worked!

These do! And they do NOT slide around on the counter/table top either.

A nice set for newlyweds setting up house. Just watch that you don’t

do what I did, I thought there was another larger bowl and ordered it

(well, you might actually READ…I guess I didn’t!) so I ordered and now

have another of the largest bowl in this set…but that’s not all bad =)

When I recently replaced a set of old, chipped mixing bowls, I wanted to go with American-made, durable, solid glass. I chose an inexpensive 3-piece Pyrex set but ended up very frustrated with those sloped sides and all of the associated splattering I got whenever I used my hand-held electric mixer. Christmas baking was the last straw. I ordered this Anchor Hocking set for 2 reasons – 1) It’s made in the U.S.A., and 2) the sides are much steeper than in the Pyrex sets. I am thrilled with my purchase and am using these bowls for everything now. The Pyrex set is headed for the second-hand store!

*** Helpful Hint July 09 *** – This set doesn’t come with the larger 4 qt. bowl, but you might be able to find it at Big Lots for a mere . (I did.) Also, I kept my smallest Pyrex bowl (with the sloped sides) because I sometimes set it over another pan of water to double-boil/melt chocolate for recipes. The sloped sides do give it the shallowness needed for double-boiling, but for EVERYTHING ELSE I use these Anchor Hocking mixing bowls. Also, the cracker jars made by Anchor Hocking are fabulous for pantry storage of just about everything – heavyweight glass and made in the U.S.A.!!!

In my opinion, these are some of the best mixing bowls out there. I prefer glass to plastic or steel because I like the visibility and the fact that you can put them in the microwave without worrying, and you can use these as bakeware as well. My favorite thing about them is that unlike other bowls, these are deep, rather than wide – which means there is less splattering on your counter when using a hand mixer. The mixer works just fine even in the smallest bowl. They are also fairly heavy, so they don’t slide all around. I also own the 4 qt bowl which is my favorite for rising yeast dough, again because of the deepness of the bowl. I highly recommend these bowls, and the 4 qt (though it doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon).

This bowl is exactly what I was looking for. It is sturdy, has a non-skid bottom, the handle is wide and padded so it’s easy to hold onto, and the size (2 quarts) is just right for mixing a moderate amount of ingredients. I just hate it when a bowl “takes off” across the counter, spilling contents everywhere, when you are trying to whip ingredients or stir vigorously. This one won’t. I sure wish their 5 quart model had the same handle.

I’m horribly picky when picking out kitchen products (OCD-like) and I love these mixing bowls. I have a modern kitchen and they fit right in. Picture is exactlly how they look when they arrive. They’re sturdy yet sleek.

I get lazy sometimes and let them sit in water and they get a few waterspots but that’s easily removed by barkeepers friend or perhaps just some soap and water.

I’d highly recommend this product.

I purchased these bowls because I saw the reviews were good. Well, let me tell you what a disappointment they were! First of all they arrived dented-LARGE dent. Very poor packaging, and the box was soaked through. Then when I tried to return them it took me days to finally have someone call me back with an RA#. Otherwise not returnable. And then they charged me a restocking fee. The company and the product was horrible. Save yourself the agony and buy something else.

Pyrex doesn’t need a review–it’s great stuff. Non-pourous so it doesn’t soak up tastes and smells that can never be washed out. Tough and beautiful, Pyrex does it all.

So the bowls are a no brainer, but why buy these instead of others. The tops of course are the difference. I’ve found that most Pyrex bowls with tops I had looked at didn’t fit on their bowls very well or were made out of materials which didn’t seem like they would outlast me–as they should. These tops are durable, make a good seal that wont pop off or leak. And they’re labeled with the various volumes of the bowls.

The size range of the set is also very good–from one the size of a cereal bowl to one large enough for a pot-luck salad without being so big that it wouldn’t fit in a kitchen cabinet–and they all fit inside each other without the smaller ones rising above the rims of the larger ones.

You can put all the bowls inside each other then close them all up with the largest top–with enough room to put paper towels between each bowl and the next for safety.

From batter to salads, this set has you covered. Exceptional value in a set of Pyrex bowls with lids that means they do double duty as mixing bowls and storage containers. I bought this set because I needed a large glass salad bowl with a cover, and feel almost like I got the bonus of three additional covered mixing bowls. The smaller two bowls are great for small mixes, scrambled eggs, reheats and storage, and the larger 2 bowls are great for mixing and salads. I’ve searched for years for lightweight qualify mixing bowls like these, since I can’t handle heavy ones any longer. One set contains three bowls. One each of Orange, yellow and red. Note: The inside of each bowl is shiny white, which makes mixing food much more appetizing. The inside white coating is very slick and smooth, so ingredients come out easily, foods don’t stick, and colors and odors are not absorbed. I could not be happier with these bowls. They are deep enough for electric beaters and not having to worry about your food splashing over. They are very easy to clean and stack together nicely. I check other brands before making my decision to purchase this set of bowls and I’m glad I did. Other sets cost about the same but the quality was terrible, other sets being made out of hard plastic that would easily scratch and just “felt” cheap.

The non-slip pads on the bottom of these bowls prevent them from sliding all over, and the white inside is smooth and easy to scrape and “hides” all the little dings from mixing. I love these bowls!!!
