Compaired to other sets, you get more in this set for the same price or less without giving up quality. Plus, you can’t put stainless sets in the microwave to melt butter.

Pros:

1. Large set with odd sizes (like 3/4 cup)

2. I won’t likely use the really small (like 1/32 tsp) but they can be used as a flour leveler to scrape over the top with the larger cups.

3. Sizes are not printed/painted on so they won’t wear off

4. Weighted properly so that when I set it down they lay flat. My old set tipped over.

5. Nice mix of colors which makes them pretty but also makes it easier to tell close sizes apart.

6. The measures are in labled in cups and mL. No conversions.

The only thing I don’t care for is that they don’t stack together perfectly. The set is in 3 parts – 1 set of large cups, 1 set of medium cups and then a set of spoons.Each individual set stacks well, but when putting the 3 sets together they don’t nest perfectly. Minor detail, so it’s not worth subtracting a star over IMHO.

My last set of measuring cups had sadly dwindled down to 3 different sizes. It was getting difficult to measure 1/3 of a cup out of a 1/4 cup measuring cup. I found this set in my search, and it seemed interesting that it seemed to have a variety of sizes. Ah-ha! For someone whose sets seem to disapear with the socks and tupperware lids, it seemed great. (My personal theory is that aliens need these items to power their space ships . These cups are sturdy, ‘nest’ well, and stay that way. No spilling all over the cupboard because they were touched. And the number of sizes makes recipies easy! Having just 2 people to feed in our home means reducing recipies, and this set has sizes that will actually allow us to measure odd amounts.

It’s a measuring cup, does it job good. The reason for the review is comparing with the plastic ones, glass ones are far better.

#1 – It’s easy to clean. Even if you use it to measure oil, glass cleans a lot better afterwards.

#2 – The glass is very thick, you can call it heavy duty. Bumping it on the counter or against pans, it won’t just break.

#3 – The handle holds comfortablly & the cup has a pouring mouth.

A real simple item, but this one gets everything right at the reasonable price. Good buy.

Have you ever tried to measure a cup of oil in a plastic measuring cup? Sure, it works, but I hope you have half an hour or so to get the oil off the plastic. It’s an annoying waste of time and gallons of running water.

The Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements is the gold standard of measuring cups. All that other plastic stuff in my kitchen is junk compared to it.

If you need a measuring cup, definitely buy this one.

I’m very pleased with these measuring cups. Long enough handles, sturdy construction and heavy weight metal. I even use them to melt butter on the stovetop. If you want the 2/3 and 3/4 cup measures, get the 7 piece set. For my purposes the 5 piece set is just fine.

I really like these measuring cups. They are sturdy, solid and have long handles, which are nice for keeping your hands out of whatever it is you’re measuring. Thay are stainless and can go into the dishwasher. It is great that they come with a 1/8 cup measure which most sets do not. 1/8 cup is 2 Tbsp, which is required for a surprising number of recipes. My mother liked them so well, she wanted her own set, and she hardly even cooks anymore.

I really like this set. Long handles…yes the cups are more wide than deep (trying to get used to that)…and they are heavyweight, stainless steel…but

- I find dry foods kind of “stick” to these weird “ridges” on the inside / no one has mentioned that and I have to take special care to wipe them out afterward – more so than with smooth stainless/they are not smooth on the inside/bottom. That’s as good as I can explain it.

- The larger cups balance on their own when empty without their handles tipping/touching – back to the counter but the others do not. This may not be a big deal to you – but I thought there would be that consistency there meaning when empty all the handles would stay elevated off the counter, not all of them do…and I get annoyed with some tipping back on their handles when empty…is that just me? I have to stack them all into the 1 cup to keep them from doing that…but they do stack nicely.

I like the sizes…this really is the best set for sizes. If you can afford this set – get it. It is a once in a lifetime buy – these will last a lifetime…

I also like how the markings are clearly engraved into the handles and I like how the handles are straightback level with each cup and long.

I have purchased 2 sets of these cups. The first was fantastic – very nice, heavy duty, well made. I don’t like that the interior surface is brushed rather than polished but they are nice.

I just purchased set #2 and found that the smallest 4 cups are now made of a material that is approximately 1/2 the thickness of the larger 3 cups. These smaller cups are now kind of flimsy. What a disappointment. I bought these because of their solid construction – and now these are not much better than the cheapies at the local big-box store. I would not spend more than for this set now.

These are convenient and durable. I have used mine for 2+ years, with all liquids including oils, and I wash them in the dishwasher. They are as good as new and the numbers have not worn off yet! My measuring is definitely more precise with these. They nest nicely for storage. Get the mini ones too!

I absolutely love these! I’ve had them for years with no problems. I find them extremely convenient.

The only “issue” is if you are measuring something somewhat sticky and you’re going to need to scrape it out a bit, it can be more difficult with the angled cups, as they are not smooth all the way around. That is the only time I revert back to my glass, regular measuring cups.

I must be getting old, as today I dropped my Pyrex 1 Quart Measuring Cup from a cupboard about 10 feet up and guess what, it didn’t break, and I was very excited! I’ve bought dozens of measuring cups over the years and have managed to melt, break, tarnish and mutilate each and every one of them. This one seems to be up to the challenge. I’ve used it to melt butter and left it in the microwave too long, washed it a dozen times in the dishwasher, used a whisk in it (I love the sheer size of this thing!). Not a scratch on it! I know, I know, it’s just a measuring cup. But quality does matter, and this one is top notch!

Pyrex measuring cups are among the essentials for any kitchen. This size holds one quart but also is useful for mixing smaller amounts such as pancake or waffle batter and muffins, heating soup or chili in the microwave, making Jell-o for the kids, small salads, and much more. I was looking to upgrade my measuring spoons recently, and this innovative set caught my eye. Sometimes jumbling around a bunch of spoons on a ring can be a pain, so the idea of having them magnetically attached seemed like a great idea. The other features, such as having a bowl end and a narrow end, as well as having the measurements in both standard Tbsp/tsp and ml, were a nice bonus.

I have used this set for a few months now, and I am definitely happy with it. The magnets cling together well, and the whole set stays together easily. I have come to appreciate having the narrower end to dig into spice containers as well as having a clean bowl of the same size I just used.

The only drawbacks are the stainless steel isn’t as solid as I was hoping. You could easily bend these measuring spoons with your hands. Also, the magnets are strong enough to hold the set together, but not strong enough to attach to a refrigerator or anything like that. I was kind of hoping to save some space by sticking them on my fridge, but no such luck. Also, the magnets can attach themselves to unintended items, like a set of measuring cups.

It is not big deal, and these are really only minor annoyances. All in all these are a great set of measuring spoons and I would happily buy them again!

Have had these about a year of regular use (several times a week). Really like using these for the easy retrieval of a single size (as opposed to sets with rings) and double ends (good for dry and liquid for the same recipe). Also liked that it offered 1/2 tablespoon, which is not common. Unfortunately though, the metal is a little flimsy and one of the center plastic/magnet housings has come off. Also the measurements are just printed on and have started to rub off. Would have given these a higher rating if they had actually been made to last.

Pyrex is only a trade name ONLY now, licensed out to World Kitchen. It is NOT the original invention from 1915 that we all remember. It is NOT Pyrex BOROSILICATE glass anymore (after 1998). It is NOT safe to plunge into ice cold water from boiling oven anymore. It’s also heavier because it’s NOT PYREX anymore! After 1998, when Corning Glass stopped making Pyrex. (Think fiberoptics and bankruptcy, etc.) They sold off their ‘household’ glassmaking and it reformed as World Kitchen. PYREX is borosilicate glass and very resistant to wear and chip and cracking due to exposure to heat or quick changes in temperature. This is why Pyrex and Kimax and other borosilicate glasses are used for chemistry glassware. (Timex was to watches as these were to chemlabware! Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’!) Corning has licensed the name of ‘Pyrex’ to World Kitchen, but nothing else about it is ‘corning glass’. (As an aside – Corning made/makes great glass – of all kinds. A world-beater in their day. Management screwed them over going down the wrong economic road. Do check out their lovely glass museum in Corning, NY!) NOW, World Kitchen makes their ‘pyrex’ measuring cups out of ordinary soda-lime glass (kitchen drinking glass type). This is NOT safe to expose to heat changes!!!! (Think wear safety goggles – like you WERE working in a CHEM LAB!) I suspect that soda-lime glass is denser than borosilicate, but the actual measure wall thickness may be different now than before, and, thus, this accounts for some of the weight difference. If you want my opinion – find ‘vintage’ Pyrex Measuring Cups somehow and they will last multiple lifetimes. I have one of my mom’s and she has two of her mom’s measures. My new ones cannot hold a candle to the old ones (30 to 60 years old) and aren’t worth a tinker’s damn. Happy times in the kitchen!

I have always used pyrex glass measuring cups, so when my old one-cup cup broke I wanted to replace it. I’m very disappointed with the design of the new cup. The cup itself will probably hold two cups of liquid. It only has markings for up to one cup. The cup is very short and wide. This makes the markings so close together they are hard to read and hard to pour the precise of liquid I need. I bought another one that I like. I can’t imagine why Pyrex made this cup like this. I would have never believed I would review a measuring cup, but this one was so bad I decided to.

As a devoted convert from “plastic” to stainless steel measuring gadgets, I had been looking at an MIU set of stainless steel measuring cups for several months now. At -plus for the MIU set, it was a “want” more than a “need.” I had purchased MIU stainless steel measuring spoons before and we were quite pleased with them. However, I found a set of these Thunder Group measuring cups in Amazon Warehouse Deals for less than (also qualifying for Amazon Free SuperSaver Shipping), so decided to take a chance on them ~ and am so glad I did.

They are heavy and substantial. They clean up like a dream. The markings on them are engraved and in a fairly large type, not hard to read with a twist into the light. My husband, who also loves to cook and has a much more critical eye, noted the handles were spot-welded ~ however in looking at product photos of the MIU sets (they have the handles turned away from the camera a great deal in mostly all of them), I do believe that is the case with the MIU sets as well.

Like the MIU “stainless steel” gadgets, these are most likely heavily stainless steel plated. I have used steel scouring pads on them however and they shine up nicely and the stainless shows no sign of wear-through. But for the money, I am glad I found these and would have readily paid the regular Amazon price of (currently) .99 (also qualifying for Free SuperSaver Shipping) for them if I had found them before. Certainly, I would have bought them long before this, and it was just by chance that I found them in Amazon Warehouse Deals.

As we like to have at least several sets of measuring cups and measuring spoons in our kitchen, I will not hesitate to purchase more of these in the future. And the next time I need stainless steel measuring spoons, I will go for the Thunder Group brand as well. MIU has that “France” suffix (but the “China” stamp on them and their web site states that MIU is all made in China). These have no country of origin on them, but even if they are made in China (so hard to find USA manufactured goods today), at more than half the price of MIU, definitely worth the money.

Amazon had them here in three days after ordering, two days earlier than the estimated deivery date. Another great Amazon experience!

Like their measuring spoon set, Thunder Group has exceptional quality products that will last a lifetime. This may sound weird but I would honestly rather buy plastic measuring cups next time not only for the price but because durability isn’t exactly an issue with measuring cups – they aren’t going through much wear and tear.

I would still recommend these for those who, for some reason, prefer stainless steel over plastic for measuring cups.

This is a clever, well designed measuring cup, but since it is made of plastic, do NOT use it with fats (oils, creams, yolks, etc.). Any substance that includes fat will chemically attract to the plastic in the measuring cup (and vice versa), making it VERY difficult to get completely clean. While I prefer this design to my trusty Pyrex glass measuring container, I don’t like to have to think twice about using it with some ingedients. If they ever make a glass version of this cup, I’ll buy two!

I had seen this item many times on my trips to my favorite houseware stores and thought this was really a great idea. Well yesterday I finally decided to shell out the to get one. I used my cup the first time this morning to make a loaf of bread in my bread machine.

After about 20 minutes of kneeding in the machine, I checked the consistency of the dough and found it very wet. So i got out the cup and my old pyrex cup and my metal cups and did a little checking, after measuring many times back and forth between the cups, i found that the OXO cup is off by quite, over an 1/8 of a cup, nearly a quarter. 1 Cup of liquid in this cup, measured almost 1 and 1/4 cup in the Pyrex. This messed up my bread and really irritated me.
