The colors of this Pfaltzgraff dinnerware are outstandingly gorgeous. As soon as I pulled the dinner plate out of the box and set it on the table in the sun, I saw an almost iridescent glow from the brown and a gently vibrant glow from the blue. Beautiful! The dinner plate is a wonderfully big size; the bowls easily hold an entire can of heat-to-eat soup, and the mugs’ handles are comfortable. The complete place setting is properly weighty and has a strong presence on the table. Stunning product that I’ll be proud to use everyday and for my best friends at dinner.

Purchased two sets. One plate arrived broken. Amazon offered to replace entire set, but I had to return the entire set. Too much of a pain so they gave me a partial refund. That works.

The set looks just like the picture. Microwave safe, at least for reheating, etc. Have not had them in the micro for extended periods.

I bought this to replace a set of Corelle dinnerware we’ve had over 15 years. The old set start getting gray and streaky as if the years of utensils against the surface in daily use finally took a toll. When I decided to replace that set, I had no doubt that it would be with another set of Corelle. It is lightweight, dishwasher and microwave safe, is thin enough to not stack too high in the cabinet, and it stays nice looking even with heavy use.

This set arrived well packed, the Corelle box and bubble packing inside another box, and everything was intact. The plates are really big! We will probably end up using the lunch plates as dinner plates sometimes. The bowls also have a very large capacity, easily two cups.

One main difference between this set and my old one is the coffee cups are not the same material as the dishes… they used to be made of the same ‘vitrelle’ and now are porcelain. I like the new ones better; they have a little more heft and keep my coffee warmer longer, and they are more elegant than our regular old unmatched mugs.

I love the squared shape of all the pieces, even the cups are a bit square. Perhaps it is because of the shape that the pieces all seem to have so much capacity. I like this pattern, Simple Lines, because it is a simple contemporary desigh. If I have one complaint it would be that the lines don’t look solid and dark on the plates; in places the lines look like chalk stripes.

I love these plates – they are attractive and durable. In particular, the cups and bowls are good, practical sizes. My one complaint is that the black stripes are a different finish and rougher texture from the rest of the plate. Occasionally when a fork scrapes across one, we all get spine-tingles! If you are sensitive to this, you probably want to choose a different style. But I do highly recommend Corelle in general. My 5-yr-old cannot seem to destroy them (and he does try).

Corelle Livingware Winter Frost 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Reviews

It says a lot about a product like this when it’s been continuously available since 1970. I’ve owned Corelle for most of the past 30 years. I recently bought a 17-piece set from Wal-Mart (same as this + a 1-quart serving bowl) for about to replace some Corelle pieces that didn’t match my Winter Frost pieces and to have more place settings. The mugs are cheap stoneware made in Thailand, not Corelle. They don’t quite match the Corelle and they’re going to the Goodwill along with the mismatched plates and bowls, but it was still a good deal for the rest of the set.

I love Corelle. All Corelle looks as if it was stamped out of a sheet of white glass, which is a result of the way it’s made. There are no “base rings” or loop handles (which is why there have never been any Corelle mugs). The design makes Corelle very easy to wash and dry. They’re very thin, and they stack with virtually no extra space in between them so they use remarkably little cubbard space. A stack of ten dinner plates is only 2″ high. Try that with those heavy stoneware plates that chip every time two of them bang together. They’re microwave- and oven-safe (don’t use on the stove or under the broiler). And they’re still made in the US.

It’s as if Corelle was invented for large families with lots of kids. It’s durable, so the kids won’t be breaking it very easily (although it will break on ceramic tile or the concrete if the kids drop it while playing outside . Second, you can easily put 8, 12, or even 16 place settings in any cabinet. If you have kids, you know why that’s a good thing. Every time kids eat anything they have to use a clean dish, and they snack a lot, so they go through clean dishes at a frightening pace. With Corelle you can have a big supply of dishes without breaking the bank or using a lot of cabinet space.

Another nice thing about Corelle is that you can use the plates to cover the bowls. The small plates that come in this set are the same diameter as the cereal bowls in this set. The 8.5″ luncheon plates (sold separately) are the same diameter as the 1-quart serving bowls and the pasta bowls. The dinner plates in this set are the same diameter as the 2-quart serving bowls and the 9″ deep dish pie plate (which makes a fabulous pasta bowl).

The Winter Frost White looks simple, clean, and never goes out of style. Really, after using Corelle for nearly 30 years I don’t have even a nit to pick with it. Get a bunch of it and enjoy the best designed dishes ever made. With any luck you’ll still have them in 20 or 30 years, and don’t be surprised if they still look new after that all time, especially if you go over them with Bon Ami once or twice a year.

Got a 42 piece set of Livingware in winter frost white for xmas. The plates are nice and look great on a red tablecloth, though a few were slightly warped (you can see it when plates are stacked). However, that was not such a problem as the cups, which are of terrible quality! I did not use cups on xmas and first used them today. When I took the mugs out from a box one had a barely visible crack on a side, which I did not see until poured water into it and water started sipping through the crack. Called Corelle for warranty, and they do not warranty cups! So much for a 3 year warranty! On their site and on the box it says 3 year warranty with no asterisk or additional disclaimers, but in the care instructions! there is a fine print that cups are not covered. I used to like Corelle and thought they were a reputable company, but not anymore. They outsourced cup manufacturing to Thailand and now make them out of stoneware, which is pretty much like glass. So, if you think you are buying Corelle and it will not break, think again…

I have three sons, ages 6, 9 and12. Corelle livingware is a great benefit for our active, and occassionally clumsy family. It doesn’t break. I’m very pleased with both the product and the price. My only complaint is that I wish Corelle had included mugs made out of the same Corelle ware material, instead of stoneware mugs. The stoneware mugs are not easily stackable in the cupboard, and of course, they are breakable (though we haven’t broken one yet).

I was extremely disappointed that BOTH the 45-piece sets I purchased were defective. There are black speckles, brown spots, even a green spot in the glaze. This is on nearly every single piece. I have contacted Mikasa by their 800 number and was told they were aware of the problem and would send me good sets, but so far nothing has been done. This is creamware and it should be creamy white with no dirty looking spots on it. I love the pattern, the size of the plates, everything but the quality. They really need to address this problem at the factory, and not sell seconds as top quality china!

I liked the square shape of this set and I liked that they are large in comparison to other dinnerware. I have some family members who do not like it if different food items touch, so this works out wonderfully. Also, for those wanting a full plate of food, there is plenty of room.

The bowls are larger than other bowls we have used, which I like. When we used the salad plates under hot bowls, the bowls stayed firmly in place instead of sliding around.

I did have to get used to drinking from the mugs (cups) as they have straight sides instead of being rounded, but they too hold a good amount of whatever you choose to put in them.

I did measure my dishwasher before ordering to be sure the plates clear the wand because another review I read said the plates were too large for the purchaser’s dishwasher. They cleared the wand in my dishwasher fine. I like these dishes because they are different.

Two bowls were broken upon intital shipment. I contacted the manufacturer and they immediately sent out replacements.

Cute! Cute! Cute! I love the mix and match look this set offers while still coordinating. The only complaint I would come close to having, is that the bowls are very shallow. They are great for salads, but not for soup or cereal. My solution was to buy the Corelle Snack Pack in white. The plates are very functional, light in weight, and take up less space than traditional stoneware. Everyone who has been to my home has complimented me on my new dinnerware.

My mother had Corelle dishes about 25 years ago for a family of 9 and never a broken, cracked, or stained dish. Fast forward to my own life and many sets of stoneware…I have happily returned to Corelle. These are lovely dishes. The colors are little more muted than in they appear in the picture but still very attractive. Plus, they take about 1/3 of storage as my former set. I agree with the other reviewer, the bowls are shallow but I like that. The coffee mugs are very nice but these are stoneware. I bought 2 sets and am considering a third…I like them that much!!!
